Summary:
This report examines the results of a test fishery which was conducted during the 2008 upper Cook Inlet (UCI) commercial salmon fishery. The primary objective of the test fishery was to estimate the abundance and timing of the sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka run, as measured along a transect near the southern boundary of the UCI management area. The test fishery was conducted from July 1-31 and provided valuable data used to aid in critical inseason commercial fishery management decisions.
